Fall Farm

Quilt Details

Description
I grew up in Illinois farm country. As is often the case, I didn't really appreciate the scenery of the area. The one part of the scenery I did love, was the sky views. There was always a lot of sky to appreciate with the flat and barely rolling farm fields as the dominant landscape. You could see storms coming from miles away! Only as I began to make regular trips back to visit mid state Illinois - after moving away to Michigan - did I grow to appreciate the subtle beauty of Illinois landscapes. Sometimes not so subtle - like the rich reds and oranges of the Sumach that grew profusely along the highways. or the yellows and soft rusts of the fields. The beautiful old farm houses and barns that dotted the landscape. This quilt is a homage to that land.
