Description
This is an early quilt that I regularly think of going back to remake or fix - correcting all the mistakes (the Iris depicted are more garden Iris than the Blue Flag Iris that grow along rivers). Or at least go back to and add more stitching - neither has happened. I have made so many quilts with Iris - river and garden, that I guess this will just stay as is for a while longer.......... I would rather create new quilts than go back and fix old ones......
The inspiration for this quilt was a canoe trip down a river a couple hours from our home. I had no camera to document, but always remembered the gorgeous banks of purple and yellow Iris along the river. It seemed each bend revealed a more beautiful display than the previous.
